Ishwar Pokhrel is Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence under Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli, Council of Ministers appointed on 16 February 2018. He has been the Party General Secretary of CPN-UML since 2009. He is also a Founding member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (ML) and of the Central Committee of the CPN (UML).
