A Tithi is the unit of time to denote a day made by the movement of the moon. Most importantly, it is a date on the lunar calendar. The moon occupies the space while increasing its distance from the sun by 12 degrees and makes a day. A complete revolution of the moon (29.5 days) occupies 30 dates for 360 degrees, making 30 Tithis in a month and they exactly make a timetable for each month called Panchanga in the Hindu calendar. Panchanga dates include Tithi, Vaar, Yog, Karan, and Nakshatra which figure out the auspicious time for any special work. As discussed above, we learnt some important dates on Panchanga. Every month has two Ekadashis; one in Shukla Paksa (the period of the brightening moon or waxing phase) and the second in Krishna Paksa (the period of the fading moon or the waning phase).
